My Three Years With Oscar De La Renta

From 2015 to 2018, I worked with the fashion house Oscar de la Renta. For the entirety of the three years I was an Archive intern, but I also spent a summer at the HQ working in the Global Communications and Public Relations Department. During those three years, I learned about the remarkable history of Oscar de la Renta, awaited anxiously every season to see what beautiful garments the fashion house was going to release, and experienced more than I would had ever hoped.

I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.

Because if you make mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself and changing the world. You're doing things you've never done, and more importantly, you're doing something.

So that's my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make new mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody's ever made before. Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or it isn't perfect, whatever it is; art, or love, or work or family or life.
